Scholarship Applications

Undergraduate and graduate students registered full-time for the 2020/21 or 2021/22 school year qualify for the scholarships.

Côté Gold Indigenous Community Scholarship

With funding from IAMGOLD, YMP is pleased to provide one $5,000 scholarship to an exceptional indigenous student in a mining-related program. This student will write an essay demontrating IAMGOLD’s Mission to engage, empower and support each other in the pursuit of excellenceThe winner will also be eligible to interview for a summer internship with IAMGOLD at their Côté Gold Project. Proof of indigenous citizenship is required with the application. 

In 1000 words, write an essay about a time you empowered and supported your community and how you think this experience will impact your future career.

The YMP scholarship review panel will value the creativity and eloquence of the essay along with academic excellence and extra-curricular involvement.

Create a new folder on your computer titled “LastName_FirstName_GraduationYear” and add:

  • Your one page written document
  • Your most recent academic transcript
  • Your updated resume
  • A scan or photo of your status card, Métis citizenship card,  Inuit enrollment card, or equivalent.

Côté Gold Woman in Mining Scholarship

With funding from IAMGOLD, YMP is pleased to award one $5,000 scholarship to an exceptional female currently in a mining-specific undergraduate program at a Canadian university. In addition, the recipient will have the opportunity to interview for summer internship at IAMGOLD’s Côté Gold Project.

In 1000 words, write an essay discussing the challenges faced by women in the mining industry (as a whole or your particular field) and ways that these challenges can be addressed or reduced. 

The YMP scholarship review panel will value the creativity and eloquence of the essay, along with academic excellence, industry-related work experience and extra-curricular involvement.

Young Mining Professionals Scholarship Fund is a registered charity accepting contributions and donations to fund scholarships for students enrolled in mining-related post-secondary education. YMP Scholarship Fund will issue official donation receipts.
