Perseverance/Kajussissimainarniq Scholarship

With funding from Agnico Eagle, YMP is pleased to provide one $10,000 scholarship to an exceptional Nunavut Inuit student in a mining-related program. The winner will also be eligible to interview for an internship with Agnico Eagle. This student must have a valid NTI Number, registered in a Canadian post-secondary education institution for the 2021-2022 year and must be willing to participate in an interview for a publicized story by Agnico Eagle. Previous winners of the Perseverance/Kajussissimainarniq Scholarship are not eligible to apply.

 

Agnico Eagle is a senior Canadian gold mining company that has produced precious metals since 1957. Its mines are located in Canada, Finland and Mexico, with exploration activities in each of these countries as well as in the United-States and Sweden. Student in Mining (Northern Ontario) Scholarship

Funded by Alamos Gold, YMP is pleased to provide a $5,000 scholarship to a student enrolled in a mining-related program at a Canadian post-secondary education institution for the 2021-2022 year. Students must either be studying at an institution located in Northern Ontario or reside in Northern Ontario.

Funded by B2Gold, YMP is pleased to provide a $10,000 scholarship to a student enrolled in an undergraduate Geology, Geological Engineering or Exploration-related program at the University of British Columbia for the 2021-2022 year. Students must demonstrate that they are pursuing a career in the mining industry and that they participate in activities and/or organizations that align with B2Gold’s vision and values of maintaining high standards of environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

 

B2Gold is a low-cost international senior gold producer headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has three operating gold mines and numerous exploration and development projects in various countries including the Philippines, Namibia, Mali and Colombia. In 2020, B2Gold forecasts consolidated gold production of between 1,000,000 and 1,055,000 ounces.

Peter Munk Scholarship

The Peter Munk Scholarship represents passion for both education and mining in Canada. Peter Munk was one of Canada’s great entrepreneurs and philanthropists who founded his most significant venture, Barrick Gold Corp., in 1983 and built it into the world’s largest gold mining company in less than twenty-five years. He did so by leading a small team of partners who trusted one another implicitly and who together balanced boldness and prudence in the pursuit of fierce entrepreneurial ambitions. Having come to the industry as an outside, Munk defied its conventions and implemented an innovative hedging program that helped propel Barrick to success. Previous winners of the Peter Munk Scholarship are not eligible to apply.

 

Funded by Barrick Gold Corp, YMP is pleased to provide a $10,000 scholarship to one student enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary education institution for the 2021-2022 year, pursuing a career in mining. This person will embody Peter Munk’s legacy of perseverance and entrepreneurialism.

Joan is a lifelong educator and entrepreneur who supports new Canadians entering the STEM education stream, particularly earth sciences. This scholarship is designated for those who are new to Canada and who demonstrate the need for financial assistance to continue their education.

Funded by Yamana Gold, YMP is pleased to provide two $5,000 scholarships to extraordinary aspiring industry professionals enrolled in a mining-related program at a Canadian post-secondary education institution for the 2021-2022 year. To apply, students must take a blank sheet of paper, and do something creative and mining-related with it. This could be a poem, a picture, a collage, a short essay, etc. Previous winners of the Yamana Student in Mining Scholarship are not eligible to apply.

 

Yamana Gold is a Canadian-based gold producer with significant gold production, gold development stage properties, exploration properties, and land positions throughout the Americas including Canada, Brazil, Chile and Argentina.
